The round of 32 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup will continue on Thursday, July 2 with Portugal facing Croatia at BMO Field in Toronto, Canada.
By Divya Rajagopal TORONTO, July 1 (Reuters) - While fans may frame Thursday's World Cup round-of-32 match as a Modric versus Ronaldo showdown, Croatia coach Zlatko Dalic sees something different brewing when his team face Portugal in their first-ever World Cup meeting.
They have been scenes the diehard supporters of Portugal and its living, striking legend, Cristiano Ronaldo could only have dreamed of for the two decades they’ve watched their hero perform and produce.
Portugal and Croatia meet Thursday in a Round of 32 World Cup match. Kickoff from BMO Stadium in Toronto, Ontario, is set for 7 p.m. ET.
Portugal will clash with Croatia for the sixth time this decade on Thursday.
Croatia has earned a spot in the World Cup knockout round by defeating Ghana on Saturday. Nikola Vlašić and Luka Sučić scored for Croatia.
