Baker’s adoption is free through Sunday, 5/25! We sat down with VCAS volunteer Karen and her favorite shelter dog, Baker. Karen tells us that this mystery mutt (pittie x cattle dog? Maybe?) is 2 years old, loves leaning on human friends for pets, and enjoys a good walk or adventure, but tires before too long and is ready for chill mode 😌 His favorite place is right next to YOU 🫵 He may be open to a dog or cat siblings, and may be best suited for a home with older kids! VCAS Director’s Message 11/6: In the last week, 103 pets were adopted, 30 were returned to owners, and 7 went to rescue groups! 129 new animals arrived at the shelter. We are so grateful for all of these outcomes, especially the adoption of 5 dogs who had been with us for over 100 days. We’d also like to thank the dedicated folks who help reunite animals outside of the shelter by running the local Missing Pets pages. Our community is SO luckily to have these pages that are monitored so attentive

***Update: ADOPTED by foster and headed to rescue!*** Injured paws and legs due to stress behaviors in the kennels 💔 4 y/o Philippe has been struggling in the shelter. His paw pads are raw and his legs are sore from constant jumping and pacing in his kennel. Sometimes he simply lays in the corner and trembles rhythmically. 😞 Luckily, Philippe is with an amazing temporary foster and got to sleep in a warm bed last night. But the LAST thing we want is for him to come back to shelter! Former fost

Our longest resident Alif has spent close to three years in and out of shelter care. He is looking for an experienced home or transfer to a rescue group! Affectionately referred to as a toasted marshmallow, Alif walks nicely on leash and mingles well with laid back dogs. He has struggled with resource guarding behaviors in previous homes, and needs someone to give him a chance so he can progress outside the shelter.
